Cash is Top Prize in Community Foundation Summer Raffle

Waldoboro, Maine - John Blamey, President of the Medomak Valley Community Foundation, announced that $500.00 is the top prize in the Foundations annual Summer Fun Raffle to benefit The Waldoboro Community Project. The Community Project is a fund raising campaign to develop a recreation complex on Town-owned land behind Miller Elementary School. Private donations will finance the bulk of this project, in a phased development plan.

President Blamey stated the Foundation is dedicated to the success of the Waldoboro Community Project, and the raffle provides an opportunity to publicize the Project and to have some fun. This years raffle supports Phase I of the project, which is construction of two additional youth athletic fields, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and renovations to Philbrook Field.

This year the Summer Fun Raffle prizes include cash prizes totalling $1,000.00. In addition there is an autographed picture of Tim Wakefield donated by the Red Sox, a Hannaford gift certificate, and a gift certificate from Maine Sport Outfitters of Rockport.

President Blamey continued tickets are available at various locations in Waldoboro, including Oceans Bounty Restaurant at the top of the hill on Route 1, The Movie Pizza Shoppe on Jefferson Street, Hillside Collision Center on Route 1, at the Waldoboro VFW on Monday evenings, at John Foster Little League Field before most games, and from members of the Foundation. Raffle tickets can also be ordered on-line at the Foundations website at www.themvcf.org on the Events page, or by calling him at 832-7761. Raffle tickets will be available on Waldoboro Day, June 17, 2006. Our booth will be located at the corner of Jefferson and Main Street, stop by to learn more about the Waldoboro Community Project and take part in the raffle.

The raffle prize drawing will begin at 10:00 p.m., on June 17, at the Street Dance on Friendship Street.
