Waldoboro Fundraising Challange a Success
Waldoboro, Maine In October 2005, the Board of Directors of the Waldoboro Little League Association issued a challenge to help the Medomak Valley Community Foundation raise funds for the Waldoboro Community Project. The goal of the challenge was to help the Foundation raise $20,000 in new pledges by March 31, 2006. This week, Little League Association President William Maxwell and Foundation President John Blamey announced that the challenge was a rousing success, raising $24,300 in cash and new pledges.
The Community Project is a fund raising campaign to develop the Towns recreation site behind Miller School. The first phase of the project will build an additional Little League field and a Babe Ruth League field for youth baseball. The fields will be co-located to accommodate a soccer field for the youth soccer program in the fall. In addition, this phase includes renovations to Philbrook Field making it usable as an all-ages baseball/softball facility, and building basketball and tennis courts at the new recreation site.
In reviewing the results of the challenge, Association President Maxwell stated, The Board of Directors are proud of the Foundation volunteers who worked hard to meet our challenge. We are very happy to make our additional donation of $1,500.00 as further evidence of our confidence in this project. The recreation project is an important investment in the future of our youth and our entire community. We encourage all residents and businesses to join us in providing the financial support needed to make the Community Project a reality.
In announcing the challenge results, Foundation President Blamey stated, The Foundations Fundraising Committee is very grateful for the generosity and support of the Little League Association. Their encouragement had a tremendous positive impact on our fund raising efforts.
President Blamey continued, These are challenging times for all non-profit organizations, and having a fellow non-profit group support our efforts is truly heartwarming. The Foundations Board thanks the Association for their donations and for their continued support as we work to make the Community Project a reality.
The Medomak Valley Community Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation. Details about the Waldoboro Community Project and the Foundation are available on-line at www.themvcf.org.
