Phase Three - Community Center
The Waldoboro Community Project
Phase III includes:
- Expanded Parking at the facility
- Access Road to the Recreation Building
- Construction of a community and recreation center. This building will house a teen center, senior drop-in center, large function room, four activity rooms, and a short-term day care facility for center patrons. In addition, the building will house a gymnasium, climbing wall, area for exercise classes, locker rooms, and an indoor suspended walk/jog track.
Phase III adds tremendous capacity for community, recreation and leisure activities; however, the fundraising goal will be a challenge.
In addition, supporting the daily overhead costs of this facility will require extensive pre-planning. Finally, the community must demonstrate a need for this facility by participating in existing and new recreation and leisure programs.
This is one goal for establishing a Recreation Department and hiring a director. As a community, we must determine our need for increased capacity before we consider investing in the facility.
Based on these factors, Phase III will require 5 to 7 years to complete.
